WITec GmbH is now part of Oxford Instruments plc

The management team of WITec GmbH is pleased to announce that WITec is now part of Oxford Instruments plc, a British company with an excellent reputation among scientists. WITec will be integrated into the Materials Analysis division.

The founders of WITec, Dr. Joachim Koenen and Dr. Olaf Hollricher, will continue to serve as managing directors, and the established WITec brand will remain intact within the new structure.

WITec was founded in 1997 out of the University of Ulm and has grown into a company that manufactures the most innovative Raman microscopes on the market. To date, over 1,000 Raman, AFM, and SNOM microscopy systems have been installed worldwide.

"In the past 24 years, we have made WITec the leading Raman Imaging Company," says Joachim Koenen. "Now we are part of Oxford Instruments, and we are excited to continue this successful development together. We can leverage the structures of this strong partner to grow even faster and open new markets with our broad product portfolio."

"WITec has developed groundbreaking solutions for confocal and correlative Raman microscopy. Oxford Instruments, with its Asylum and Andor brands, has key technologies in AFM and scientific spectroscopic cameras that WITec can utilize in the future," says Olaf Hollricher.

Ian Barkshire, CEO of Oxford Instruments, says: "We are excited to welcome the WITec colleagues to Oxford Instruments. The advanced Raman microscopy solutions developed by WITec are a great addition to our existing techniques and products. Raman microscopy is an important and widely used technique in both science and industry for fundamental and applied research, as well as for quality control. Now we can offer this technique, which will be used in conjunction with and in addition to our existing characterization methods, to our customers and thereby open new market segments. Providing a broader range of solutions helps us support our customers in making the economy more environmentally sustainable, improving connectivity, enhancing health, and gaining new scientific insights."

Ian Wilcock, Managing Director of Oxford Instruments Nanoanalysis and Magnetic Resonance, adds: "We look forward to working with our WITec colleagues to explore new opportunities for marketing their products. For example, WITec's RISE Raman for SEM system will complement our own extensive range of electron microscopes in an ideal way."
